Good for Evil

We should do and say good things to people who do and say bad things to us.

We should not physically resist someone who physically attacks us.

We should give even more to someone who takes something from us.

Saying and Doing Good

We should do and say good things to people who do and say bad things to us.

Matt. 5:43-48 Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy: but I say unto you, Love your enemies, and pray for them that persecute you; that ye may be sons of your Father who is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain on the just and the unjust. For if ye love them that love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the Gentiles the same? Ye therefore shall be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Luke 6:27-28 But I say unto you that hear, Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you, bless them that curse you, pray for them that despitefully use you.

Prov. 20:22 Say not thou, I will recompense evil: Wait for the Lrd, and he will save thee.

Prov. 25:21-22 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; And if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: For thou wilt heap coals of fire upon his head, And the Lrd will reward thee.

Prov. 24:29 Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me; I will render to the man according to his work.

Rom. 12:14 Bless them that persecute you; bless, and curse not.

Rom. 12:17-21 Render to no man evil for evil. Take thought for things honorable in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as in you lieth, be at peace with all men. Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place unto the wrath of Gd: for it is written, Vengeance belongeth unto me; I will recompense, saith the Lrd. But if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him to drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

1Cor. 4:11-13 Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling-place; and we toil, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure; being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things, even until now.

1Th. 5:15 See that none render unto any one evil for evil; but always follow after that which is good, one toward another, and toward all.

1Pet. 3:8-9 Finally, be ye all likeminded, compassionate, loving as brethren, tenderhearted, humbleminded: not rendering evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but contrariwise blessing; for hereunto were ye called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

Acts 7:59-60 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon the Lrd, and saying, Lrd Jsus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lrd, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

Not Physically Resisting

We should not physically resist someone who physically attacks us.

Matt. 5:38-39 Ye have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: but I say unto you, Resist not him that is evil: but whosoever smiteth thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Luke 6:29 To him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and from him that taketh away thy cloak withhold not thy coat also.

Matt. 26:52-57 Then saith Jsus unto him, Put up again thy sword into its place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Or thinkest thou that I cannot beseech my Father, and he shall even now send me more than twelve legions of angels? How then should the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be? In that hour said Jsus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a robber with swords and staves to seize me? I sat daily in the temple teaching, and ye took me not. But all this is come to pass, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples left him, and fled. And they that had taken Jsus led him away to the house of Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together.

James 5:6 Ye have condemned, ye have killed the righteous one; he doth not resist you.

Giving Extra

We should give even more to someone who takes something from us.

Matt. 5:40-42 And if any man would go to law with thee, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

Luke 6:29-30 To him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and from him that taketh away thy cloak withhold not thy coat also. Give to every one that asketh thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

Luke 6:35-36 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Highest, because He is kind to the ungracious and evil; be therefore merciful, as also your Father is merciful.

1Cor. 6:7 Nay, already it is altogether a defect in you, that ye have lawsuits one with another. Why not rather take wrong? why not rather be defrauded?
